Is Your Kid Consuming Way Too Much Sugar?

Sugar has been used for thousands of years.

It is used in cookies, dressings, drinks and cakes. Children are addicted to sweets like sodas, candies and snacks and sugar is one of the major causes of diabetes and obesity.

Parents need to realize that sugar raises the insulin level so high in children that kids cannot even burn it off completely, which leads to weight gain, and this added weight can stay with children for the rest of their lives as they become adults.

Parents need to realize that kids consuming high amounts of sugar tend not to do well in school. Sugar has a way of dumbing kids down, and making them lazy and tired which is the reason that they may end up wanting to sleep all the time. If a child consumes high levels of sugar, it may cause them to not be able to pay attention to the teachers, which may cause them to do poorly in school, and get bad grades. Many times, parents and teachers will not have a clue as to what is going on, but it is not the child’s fault for they do not understand why they are crashing in class and cannot focus.



Some of the things that are going on behind the scenes are high blood pressure. To keep the blood vessels healthy and open, they need a normal nitric oxide level. Sugar interferes with this and will cause heart disease and high blood pressure. It will clog up arteries and blood vessels, including causing higher levels of triglycerides, or blood fats, too much sugar also lower levels of HDL which is a clue for high cholesterol. Too much sugar will cause a high instance of fatty liver disease which is the cause of sugar spikes. Sugar cannot get into the cells, which get stuck in the body, which in the long term the child will become obese and possibly develop diabetes which could cause a huge problems of hospitals and daily shots.

As a parent, you need to ask yourself, is it worth it to allow your child to eat all those cookies or candy loaded with sugar? Can a healthier alternative to sweets be offered? Children’s health and their future depend on the wise choices and guidance made by their parents. Reducing sugar intake in children is a big step towards a healthier lifestyle.
