Lucy and I have been reading some of the neatest books I have seen in a long time. We received “A Visit to The Farmer’s Market” and “A Very Purple Pepper”. Both are from Brain Child Press. These books focus on fruits, vegetables, colors and nutrition. But in a very kid friendly way. Both books have wonderful pictures of all colors of fruits, vegetables and people. The diversity in all of those things sets these books apart from the pack.
“A Visit to the Farmer’s Market” describes a trip to a local farmer’s market and explains the benefits of going. The book shows that it is important to have a good variety of fresh healthy food. It also shows the neat people you can meet at your local market.

“A Very Purple Pepper” teaches children their colors while explaining why we need to eat vegetables. The books also explains to children the specific reasons to eat certain colored vegetables. For example, eating orange vegetables help you see. This is so simply explained that a young child could learn from it and their parents may just end up learning a thing or two themselves!

We also received the Fruit Match Up Game. This game can be used in several different ways, not just for the usual memory game, although that is a great game. The cards come with instructions for playing simple matching games and go fish. Games for older children include describing the fruits using adjectives.

Lucy and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these products from Brain Child Press. She loves the pictures and the vivid colors. I love that it teaches about nutrition. Another wonderful thing about Brain Child Press is all of their products are made in the USA. No toxic books for us! Yet another wonderful aspect is that the books are also available in Spanish.
As a horticulturalist, a nurse and a mom, I can say these books get the Kate stamp of approval! Lucy also gives it two thumbs up, as she insisted on sleeping with the books for the past 3 nights! Your children will love learning about all of the delicious fruits and veggies you could get on your next trip to the market!
The fellow veggie lovers at Brain Child Press have offered THREE of my lucky readers their own set of goodies from Brain Child Press. This includes “A Visit to the Farmer’s Market”, “A Very Purple Pepper”, and a fruit match up game.
